  • To apply for admission, a student must be in the 8th grade (graduating from the 8th grade at the end of the school year), and a resident of the City of Chicago.  Applications for incoming freshmen can be found here.  Applications for transfer students can be found here.
  • Urban Prep has three campuses:  Bronzeville Campus is located at 521 E. 35th st Chicago, IL 60616; Englewood Campus is located at 6201 S. Stewart, 60621; and West Campus is located at 1326 W. 14th Place, 60608.  For more information about our campuses, visit the Schools section of the website.
  • No.  Test scores are not considered during the admissions process.
  • The average classroom size across the network is approximately 20 students.
  • No.  All Urban Prep students are responsible for their own transportation to and from school.  Most rely on public transportation for travel.
  • Transfer students are offered admission based on available class space and credit requirments. 
  • Yes.  Urban Prep determines admission based on a random lottery process with no evaluation of test scores, grades or special needs.
  • No.  Students are strongly encouraged to attend either a neighborhood or private school for deficient credit retrieval.
  • Yes, core courses will be accepted and all others will be taken into consideration.
  • No.  Urban Prep is a tuition-free school.  Each campus charges a student fee paid annually (once per year).

  • Currently, we do not host Shadow Days.  Prospective students interested in learning more about the curriculum and programs are encouraged to attend an Information Session.  Please contact Urban Prep for additional details.
